António Guterres – Honoris Causa Doctorate
“Being an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Coimbra is surely the highest distinction that any Portuguese can aspire to in his lifetime.”
The brief
On May 22, 2016, the University of Coimbra, by its Faculty of Economics, awarded António Guterres, then newly nominated Secretary-General of the United Nations, with Honoris Causa Doctorate.
This honor was awarded to António Guterres in recognition of his commitment on promoting peace and justice in the world with a special focus on human rights.
Approach
Besides speeches from Magnificent Rector and His Excellency the President of the Republic, as well as the speech of the candidate himself and the praise of his sponsors – it was clear that we should illustrate the book with the excellent images of the photo reporters hired to follow the event – Sérgio Azenha and Paulo Amaral.
"The University of Coimbra is, due to its antiquity and prestige, the most relevant institution in our collective life."
